Blending of Sorcery Soap with the Introduction of Hocus Pocus Crafts
Embracing Transformation: The Evolution of Sorcery Soap with the Introduction of Hocus Pocus Crafts.
In the ever-shifting landscape of creativity and craftsmanship, Sorcery Soap which offered the foundation for creating soap dough in 2016 has embarked on a transformative journey, marked by the exciting addition of Hocus Pocus Crafts. This evolution signifies a pivotal moment in the our narrative, reflecting the spirit of change and innovation.
Sorcery Soap, known for its magical touch in soap-making, has gracefully blended its essence with Hocus Pocus Crafts to create a synergy of enchantment. I have been curating and cultivating magical designs for years. I'd like to offer these designs on chosen products that fit the world of magic and how Sorcery Soap sees more hocus pocus.
Change is the constant force that propels growth and rejuvenation. The decision to incorporate Hocus Pocus Crafts into the Sorcery Soap family is a testament to the my commitment to evolving, adapting, and embracing new possibilities. It opens the door to a wider canvas for artistic expression and magical innovation. If you have read the Sorcery Soap books and like the view of this soap witch, you might like my vision for where Sorcery Soap goes in the future, now married (in so many ways) with Hocus Pocus Crafts.
With Hocus Pocus Crafts, Sorcery Soap now ventures into new territories, exploring varied realms of magical arts, crafts and magical tools. Some days a well placed print or the use of an enchanted mug can bring about the right type of magic for your day.
The introduction of Hocus Pocus Crafts alongside Sorcery Soap signifies a celebration of endless possibilities, which is the core idea of all the Soap Dough books - endless possibilities. I dedicated an entire chapter to this idea.
From bewitching soaps to captivating crafts, this dynamic duo promises to weave a tapestry of magic that captivates the senses and fuels the imagination.
As Sorcery Soap and Hocus Pocus Crafts join forces, the magic continues to unfold. This transformation is not just a rebranding but a celebration of the evolving magic within and around us. Together, they embark on a journey to enchant, inspire, and craft a world where magic knows no bounds.

Some of us have witnessed calmer seas, but this is not that.
Artists seem to be the carny in the coal mine. I place myself in this category. I’m a sensitive. I feel things before they happen. The pressure has been great and astrologically, this is also evident.
Instead of resisting this adaption, like most artists, I move with the energy. My caveat is, “is this in alignment with my greatest self?” I’m reading the signs, checking my tea leaves and casting my runes to gain insight. All signs point in this direction.
I have been making and sharing soap dough creations for 8 years or more. As those who study astrology know, some things are in 8 year cycles. Maybe, this is my cycle.
I have been working in the digital world for 33 years. (Yup, I’m that old.) After writing books, creating digital art and offering only soap products I’m now moving into a new realm. The world of Hocus Pocus.
I’d like to hear from you, as many of you are workers (doers) and always have a side hustle. What do you have your eye on? What is your next project?
For the last few months I’ve been struggling with my level of inspiration. It was flat and all I did was forced. Dedication isn’t always about the glorious inspiration. My work has turned into chores. Everything has been a struggle. Having experienced delight in my soap making works (even making videos was tolerable, albeit work I resisted) I understand not all days are full of the sparkling fairies of inspiration. The evidence of this is I have written and created over 700 blog posts and videos, written / created 5 soap books and thousands of still images.
So, dedication isn’t an issue for me. With that said, I understand that my new adventures might not be for everyone. I’m consciously adding products that I enjoy creating from years of works I find enjoyable.
I’ve begun to add some of these works to my environment and the weirdest thing has happened. My inspiration returned! My joy for getting up and working has appeared, softly at first and now with full steam ahead.
This began with greeting cards, and now has grown into a line of Hocus Pocus products that enchant me.
I’m good at creating beauty out of seemingly nothing. I’ve taken my product boxes and painted watercolor designs on them to make them more than what first appeared. Something delightful to keep.
Now, I’m putting artwork on products that are lovely to having in my home: a desktop mat with beautiful sunflower, mouse pad with a delightful cat sitting in a sunny corner, a print of racing magpies, a mysterious witch on a soft blanket…
It is my hope you come along on this journey with me while I curate and explore creating more sorcery in the new Hocus Pocus way with another version of crafting.
Thank you, each one, who have traveled with road with me so far. I hope that is new endeavor attracts more and more magical people and we grow into something so enchanting none of us could have imagined.
Blessings, Bee

1.) Question, WHAT ARE THEY SELLING?
The answer is, nothing.
They do not have Sorcery Soap Products. We do.

The post Interview with Jasmina from Sapolina appeared first on Sorcery Soap™.
]]>
I had a few things in mind – I wanted it to be one word name, to be easy to remember and to associate it with a soap somehow. That’s the way I came up with Sapolina (sapone – italian, sapun – serbian are the base and just a little tweak to make a melodious, feminine name).
How long have you been making soaps?
It all started out of necessity, back in 2013. I have very sensitive skin, every single product on the market just made my skin to be more dry and itchy, especially during winter months. I had to do something and begun to search for a solution. Handmade soaps were a logical point of interest but, since I am a very curious person, I couldn’t resist if I hadn’t investigate how it’s made. I discovered a whole new world of soap making, learning, reading and getting supplies long before my first ever soap. It was without any colorant and fragrance, but the only one my skin feels pleasant after. Of course, my family members were amazed at difference and feeling on the skin too, so I had to make more and more.
What makes you happy to get out of bed regarding soap making?
Everything. I am in love with soap making, I will cut a loaf today with the same passion and curiosity I had the first day, like a child with a long desired toy. I love design planing, melting oils and butters, working with raw soap, cutting a loaf, making packaging, soap photography, even the dishes after making aren’t a problem because I think of soap magic I just made while I am doing them. Also, when I can’t fall asleep I often plan the next soap, so it is like a therapy – it helps me to live a happier life.
Your soap color palates are distinctive, wow do you come up with your color designs?
I don’t know exactly. Yes, I plan design and colors, I visit web pages with color schemes as an inspiration but at the end it is sort of a feeling. I love bright colors, clean lines and simplicity, maybe that is the answer.
Where do you find your inspiration for your unique soaps? Are there things in your environment that aid in your creativity?
Inspiration is everywhere, you just need to recognize it. It is personal, what inspires me doesn’t mean you will be inspired too and vice versa. It can be a moment, emotion, event, object, some action etc. I remember when someone asked me where did I find inspiration for my soap Romance, I hesitate to tell the truth, it is maybe weird to hear it but I did – Novak Djokovic’s win in Wimbledon 2015. With all those golden spheres on the top like a crown.
What is your favorite part of soap making?
There are many parts I adore. The moment when I mix the oils and lye solution as a beginning of a magic, coloring, swirling, all those fragrances I enjoy, full table of soap loaves I made, cutting, waiting them to cure, taking photos, everything.
What do you do that is not soap related, but aids in your creative thinking?
Gardening – at the first place in this time of the year. We have garden of roses, but I am interested in cacti too and plants generally. All those colorful flowers and different shapes are breathtaking. I also love baking, home organizing and of course photography.
What do you want people to know about your work?
I frequently use soap spheres on the top of my soaps. I adore sphere as a perfect form from nature (planets, stars…), simple but strong and complete. If you leave out spheres from any of my soaps it is not the same anymore.
What have you done that surprised you?
Became a soap maker. I am still surprised, that wasn’t in my wildest dreams!
What makes you laugh about making soap?
The fact soap making is never ending game. You never know exactly how will all go and what to expect at the end, despite all the plans ahead of time. That’s the charm of the game which fascinates me since the beginning.
What do you want readers to know about you or your soap making business i.e. other products, ingredients, research… Anything you’d like to mention here.
As a soap maker, I am trying to make high quality soap at the first place, but I am customer too. I also like to see things from that point of view and offer something I would expect myself. I like eye catching product, able to attract my attention in any way, to have packaging which is easy to open (I need a device to open many of everyday commercial products), I like to see the product (at least partially) through packaging and regarding soaps, to be possible to smell it. My goal is to fulfill all of this and add a personal, artistic touch to my soaps.
Many ways to fin Jasmina and her marvelous soap creations!

There is some confusion about soap dough lately, specifically about hot process dough. This process will work, however, the results are less than ideal.
If you are a soap maker, you'll know the different finishes of hot process and cold process. Both will work. Both soap processes will result in a bar of soap that cleans, however, when it comes to soap dough hot process will not give you the smooth finish on your embellishments. No matter how good the recipe, no matter how perfect the process. Hot process does exactly the opposite of what is wanted - a lump free smooth consistency dough.
If you are in doubt, look at the finish of a hot process soap embellishment and the cold process finish.
After years of perfecting soap dough recipes and the process I have been able to repeat this process in thousands of pounds of soap dough.
There are some who believe that hot process is equally acceptable as cold process soap dough. They are not. The proof is in the results.
If you want a quick way to make soap dough for children, hot process all day! If you want a polish to your embellishment, take the time to understand cold process. It will be well worth it. Not only does it offer an ideal result, you will come to understand soap in a new way.
]]>This next book, The Magic Of Soap Dough, (The Complete Guide To Soap Dough) has been created entirely by my imagination, self-education and experiences for you!
]]>It is my opinion that trading one's life force energy, one's focus and attention, is of great value. In a world were so many copy a good idea, the genuine idea is not only the source, but the holy grail.
This next book, The Magic Of Soap Dough, (The Complete Guide To Soap Dough) has been brought forth entirely by my imagination, self-education and experiences along with a great deal of research.
Did you know that soap making and witchcraft have been long linked together? Some current materials stating this idea are dated as far back as 1869.
Each photograph, each soap, each word, each design and even the entire layout of this book has been created by my own imagination.
We creators often times create alone, but we do not create in a vacuum. After all is said and done, artists cannot always see their own work with a scrutinizing eye of perspective. The creation must be held up and looked over by another.
That is why the crux of any good work is heavily reliant on those who were not part of the creation, but can see the work with fresh eyes. These eyes, these associates, friends, are cultivated with trust. For an artist to share this new born with another person is a moment of trust. This infant manifestation cannot be shared with just anyone. It takes a delicate and sturdy hand to hold this precious infant creation in their mind's eye. It takes trust for that person to hold it delicately, address it and yet, not destroy this vulnerable creation.
There are few (if any) who have made as much soap dough as I have. (This is not to boast, but a statement of fact and obsession, as far as I know.) I've been working on perfecting the consistency and constant nature of this pliable soap product, and therefore, felt the desire to share these experiences and insights in this work of non-fiction.
It would be my hope, to some day, have a dedicated apprentice, someone to teach all I know. Because I have not met this person yet, I have chosen to write what I know (so far) and make this material available to those private alchemists and those self apprenticing.
With every effort there are always upsides and downsides.
The pros and cons to this endeavor are as follows:
The cons are that one has laid themselves bare, even in writing non-fiction. There is no one to blame if all goes sideways. As in all of life, no matter what the endeavor, the fault and praise lay on one's shoulders. In other words, if the proof readers and reviewers do not enjoy or find value in this work it is up to this artist to repair or correct. This is nerve wracking, waiting for the feedback of proof readers, waiting for feedback from reviewers. This is an anxious time.
The pros, or positives are more dreamy, less factual. The satisfaction of creation, creating something from my essence that has never existed before. Proof of my being, having lived. This is a deep and self-centered satisfaction. The idea that someone, at least and hopefully, one other person will find something of value in this work, is only a dream as of now. The upside is also to have written out this material so the future soap makers will have a guide and know it is possible to apprentice life. It is possible to think beyond what we think we know. It is possible to make a life worth living, even if it is only as transitory as soap.

There are many reasons I make soap the Sorcery way, but one of the most important is because I want others to have a moment of delight.
Each soap I make has the end user in mind, you. Will you smile with you see a Popcorn Soap? Will it make you chuckle that it really does smell like buttered popcorn? Will your curiosity be sparked when you see that the popcorn on top is made from hand crafted soap?
Will you wonder at how it was created?
How does one create joy for another? This is real Sorcery… Real magic. It is a mysterious moment when a creation so simple as soap can bring about joy in another.
The next question you might ask yourself, 'how do I create my own unique form of Soap Sorcery?'
I know you’ve suspected it all along. I'm here to give you the answer... It comes from inside of you.
Bring something forth that has never, not once, existed in this world. A soap creation that is solely from your own mind, manifest through your education and skill, into being. Witness the dreams and inspirations you have not shared before. Allow for play, not constructed play, but genuine play, as if you are the only one at the park. No one is watching.
How about being so free that your art is allowed to dissolve? Most artists want their work to live on long after they have expired. To be free enough to communicate through your art that you know all of this world is temporary and still share a moment of joy? Can you do that for yourself?
Are you curious how to create these types of soaps? Are you a little curious about The Magic of Soap Dough Book? Sign up for the newsletter and you'll get the book release announcement. This book is over 100 pages!
In a few short weeks this book will be available, with 24 Mica Recipes, step-by-steps to work with Soap Dough and 3 Soap Dough Recipes. You also might want to order your micas now, so you can jump into your Soap Lab and begin mixing like a Soap Witch.
If there is a color of soap dough you want, now is the time to order... Before the book release so you can practice along with this book.
Get a head start! There is so much happening, I'm dreaming it, and I can't keep up. More books in the next 12 months, more soap dough creations and more Sorcery Soap!

The idea of this hurts my heart on many levels. The idea the news is not journalistic news and that our mindless actions hurt innocent creatures. How do we make sense of this nonsensical world?
I recycle my plastic bags, drove my last car for 13 years being the second person to own it. I don’t buy process and packaged food (as much as possible), so we have little trash each week. I cook from raw materials at home and don’t support restaurants, (I know, blasphemy in our fast-food culture). I don’t believe that I need to have that new thing every day. I want to believe because I don’t buy water in plastic bottles that I’m not contributing to the catastrophe of our wildlife. It is not true, but I want to believe I am a terrible consumer. I want to believe I'm doing all I can for this planet. This is also not true.
I live on this plant and I create trash. It's a by-product of my life. I eat less than I did 5 years ago and therefore create less waste. I wear my clothes until they are thread-bear and recycle them. I drive as little as possible and I use palm oil. If you think you don't use palm oil look at the ingredients on that bag of chips, cookies or any other commercially processed food. It probably has palm oil in it. Geez, this topic is complex.
I am a walking contradiction.
There are many companies that do NOTHING but what they are mandated by law. I see the law as the lowest common denominator of accountability. Most of us would never think of taking something that wasn’t ours, breaking into a home or worse. These laws are basic ideas. We would never consider these choices an option. The law is for everyone. Honorable and dishonorable. The question I ask myself is, “how can I be exceptional?”
Lately I have read a few things about soap making that bothering me. Glitter.
Yup, there is much talk about banning Mylar glitter. Because it can get to the water sources. So can a plastic bag. We haven't banned plastic bags. We haven't banned plastic wrapping on food. Did you know paint on a car is made with glitter? We haven't banned cars. Oh, but electric, no fossil fueled cars were created 20 years ago or more. Not only that, but some fossil fuel free cars cannot be registered because they cannot pass emissions. Why? Because they don't have emissions. It's laughable if it weren't so stupid.
But let's discuss banning glitter.
Our desire for convenience overwhelmingly over rides our desire to be honorable. Every single time.
Being a conscientious human takes effort. So many cannot even be bothered to cook for themselves, let alone create that food. How do I know this? Fast food restaurants exist... In abundance.
I don’t have the answer. I don't have one answer let alone all of them.
The older I get, the fewer answers I have. So many things are mucked up. People with extreme wealth, while others struggle for clean water. Do you ever wonder at those who have stupid wealth and why they cannot fix things? Moreover, I wonder that they don't even try. It's not their fault, after all. And still...
I've had money before. Lots of it, and I tried to make a difference with others. I donated to the Humane Society every year. Then I figured out, when things went tits-up at their shelter they claimed "parvo" and put the entire shelter down. But this was a no-kill shelter. What's the deal?
I dug deeper, adopted puppies from them, trained those dogs, brought them up and re-homed them. I adopted puppies that were deemed healthy only to find out they were so terribly sick, and after costly vet bills, discovered many of those same litters died. You know what the Humane Society told me? We can exchange the puppy for you. And what will you do with my puppy? Oh.
I didn't take money for placing these puppies in healthy homes either. Not to claim I'm a good person, but to prove a point - that donation of time, money and effort didn't have to have a monetary exchange. A gift is a gift.
Oh, I did background checks, called their vets, called every single reference before I placed one single dog. I told many that the dog was not suited for them. So much harder face to face.
I thought I was changing things. Certainly I was changing things for the dog in question, but the problem of disposable dogs was still the issue and, I wasn't making a dent in that problem.
There is an idea that all things should be equal. They aren’t, not with humans and not in nature. There is an idea that we are all capable of everything. It’s not true. I’m clearly not capable of being a brain surgeon.
I know this doesn’t sort it all out and might even muddy the waters…
We can move toward bio-degradable glitter before legislation does. This is the direction I’m moving with my soap art. Because I have begun to lose interest in glitter, I have focused on micas. Painting with micas, dusting with micas and coloring soap with mica. Curious how one door can shut and something else will appear.
My good friend, someone who has been with me for so many years I’ve lost count, presented a philosophical idea to me – do what makes your life bearable. We’re all trying to survive. This statement is true for every living creature.
My friend drinks whisky, on occasion. She is fully aware of what alcohol can do to the body taken in large doses. Managed pleasure. I, also, drink a beer or red wine. I don’t do this every day, but on occasion I allow myself a treat. A glass of alcohol with a friend can bring a sparkle to conversation. A version of glitter.
Glitter is a treat. If our waterways were perfect, not one plastic bag was floating around, unrestrained would glitter on our soap be an issue? Is it the type of glitter? If we come up with a better glitter, can we still have this pleasure?
Are we going to remove all forms of pleasure from our world? How about we remove fast foods? How about we remove all plastic from our world?
How do we balance this idea, some things (by-products from art/industry/existence) are hazardous to us and our environments. We must be specific in our care for ourselves and our planet - weigh the results of our efforts and strive to do better in every area. Maybe we need to go back to basics? Raise, grow and make our own food? Would that fix things?
What one thing would you be willing to give up to make the planet a better place?
As I continue to alter my life for earth's preservation corporations continue to pollute our world. How do I battle the tide of unconscious and even malicious actions? Will it help if I stop buying tuna? Will it help if I wash out that can before I recycle? Will anyone of my actions truly help to repair this planet? Or is this planet going to give us a shake one day, fling us to the nether regions and start over?
I am suggesting considered and conscious thought about our actions, the results of those actions on ourselves, our immediate environments and life as a whole. Taking such full responsibility, nothing is shrugged off. I’m unclear of the impact of glitter on our world and creatures. I’m unclear if it is repairable. I do know glitter delights me. I would happily trade all my plastic bags for the ability to use bio-degradable glitter. I also know the idea of a tortured creature is not worth any pleasure I might derive from glitter.
When I bring so much thought to my world and see a narcissistic, selfish person (if they are a person) leave their fast-food garbage next to their car, when they are perfectly capable of walking that garbage to the near by trash, I am at a full stop loss.
How much glitter can be made from one styrofoam egg carton? Is the real issue about glitter, that we cannot recycle it; that our sea life chooses glitter and plastic over food? Or that glitter contaminates our food sources? How about the fact that we are over-fishing our seas? Where to begin to unravel this mess?
Let's not mention Fukushima because that, on balance, tips the glitter scales.
I know glitter isn’t made from styrofoam, but let’s ask about the lesser of two evils, not throw the baby out with the bath water. In my heart of hearts, I see glitter going the way of mercury or better yet, being banned. Why? It's an easy bill to pass for some politician.
Let's not even bring up Monsanto or unnecessary fluoride in water or sugar in foods... Yeah, I should stop here. It's all a mess.
The ancient Egyptians believed after death they stood in front of Thoth, the god of Wisdom. He then weighed that person's heart against that of a peacock feather. I have no idea if I have a light heart, but I can tell you mine would tip in one direction. I strive to do things to lighten my heart. This has no effect on the seas, but if I think for others, offer products that lighten the heart, I might - just might - lessen my innate burden to this earth and Thoth might let me pass.
]]>
]]>
If we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves.
Some days I lose the plot - the plot not just for soap, but for life.
Lately I haven’t felt exactly happy. My actions have been motivated to cause happiness. Each time I do something I ask, “will this make me happy?” All these gyrations have produced many things, but not happiness. Life has been a grind.
The other day I asked myself, “what if happiness is no longer the goal?” That’s when I got to the work of of work. That’s when I began to be more productive, and therefore, more satisfied. I became lost in my tasks, deep down the time warp; that creative place where time loses meaning and all that is left is the craft, the task, the doing of the imagined… Life.
Today, as I grabbed my camera, walked outside and stood patiently waiting for the hummingbirds at their feeder, I realized I was happy. I had a master batch of oils and butters in the crock pot, laundry in the washer and dryer and was taking pleasure in the moody weather. I took a moment to take photos. Photography, like soap, is an odd endeavor. Both require doing, action. I photograph some obscurer image, edit images, weight oils, mold a strange soap shape, even do soap dishes. All these life endeavors that we all do, my mind wanders into dangerous territory. The forest of desire. Where the desire to be happy invades my mind and I remember another time, a time of being joyful and I get confused. A moment of joy is not happiness. Happiness is, generally, upon reflection. I rarely notice happiness in the moment, but am busy being happy. I forget happiness is not a life goal.
For some reason I forgot. I forgot about the doing. I began to think of all these things, dishes and laundry, hindering my path to happiness. I had lost the plot.
This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered this idea that happiness isn’t the goal of life. I believe life is a series of spirals, and if I’m aware, I can learn more each turn of the spiral, each revisiting of similar events, similar awarenesses.
As I grow older I see less and less that is new, but if I watch I can see things from a new perspective.
The post Touching Soap Base appeared first on Sorcery Soap™.
]]>I’ve been a little below the radar lately and I’ve figured some things out.
While I’ve been rather quite I’ve been making soap (shocker) and working on the next Sorcery book. This one, “Soap Dough Magic, The Complete Guide To Soap Dough” is much more comprehensive with step-by-steps, favorite soap dough (and bar soap) recipes, mica recipes and more peculiar soap ideas. This takes a LOT of focus and time, but there is much I want to share about the wonders of soap dough.
As you may, or may not, know I spend most of my time making soap. Not just any soap, but Sorcery Soap. With each soap I want to you to feel as if it’s the most amazing soap you’ve ever seen. I want you to experience shock at a Buttered Popcorn Soap, or delight in a sweet little bunny hugging a carrot or curiosity at a newly hatched Baby Soap Dragon. A tall order. I have set the bar so high for myself I might not full achieve this goal in my life time, but I keep trying.
I find delight to be exactly next to beauty but not out-done by curiosity. All three are personal moments of a sincere connection to the artist’s creation. I think the world could always use more delight and most certainly more beauty and curiosity leads to many great adventures.
I also discovered we all have our form of connection that works for us. Mine is writing. Although I do make videos, and am getting better at presenting information in this format, I love writing. Continuing to work on the next soap dough book has brought some thoughts to the surface. I’m going to offer this book as an audio book as well. I like it when I’m read to, so I figured you might too.
My other form of connection is photography. I love telling stories with pictures. I just had my favorite camera lens repaired. Gosh, that lens has traveled all over with me, hanging off my shoulder in huge pastures of horses, back country round-ups, getting mud-splattered at rodeos and taking soap photos. I didn’t realize it wasn’t functioning correctly and probably hasn’t been for some time. When it finally failed I took it in. What a big difference.
Bring YOUR Light
Bring the best of yourself to the table. Only you know what the very best means. If you keep your light from the world it will have a hole in it the size of your soul. Our world needs more light, your light, exactly as you are. If you have no idea of your purpose, (which is a very big concept) reduce it to this… Do your level best with every single task. Every. Single. Task. Bring your profound energy and attention to washing your soap dishes in equal measure to making your soaps. If you have any doubts, just do this for a year, a month, a week, or just a day. And see what happens.
I will leave you (for now) with this idea. I have found that moving into new levels of creativity has shown me more shadow in myself, at first, than light, but ohhh… The light!

I was thinking about you (yup, all of you) in the shower today. Seriously, I do some of my best thinking in the shower.
The easier thing is to talk of negatives. It’s like a human being’s default. Even when I lose my sense of humor I strive to see the “better” of people. I also strive to live in a fact-based reality. This can be a tricky path. How to remain hopeful and grounded in the present? I’ve found it to be more challenging than simply default of grousing without insight.
My goal is to share with you my version of the world. In order to invite you into my world, like my home, I must tidy an already clean house. There you have it, I’m inviting you into my world, my mind and more than that, into my experiences. I will keep it as tidy as possible.
What started this line of thinking was using a bar of Tangled Soap.
What you might not know is, I am not paid to tell you any of this – relevant or not – I wanted you to know. It matters to me if someone is paid to say something or not, it speaks to their motives. I realized many might not know that what I write about a soap supply companies is not coerced nor paid for – its my experience of the product.
It takes hours to discover these things I observe: hours of writing, experimentation, contemplation (my favorite part), researching products, ordering, etc. All this takes time. Not a complaint but a fact – stuff takes time.
A few times a year Bramble Berry sends a box of goodies to people in the soap community. I got lucky and received a couple boxes so I created videos: Fragrance Oil Reviews, here.
Another company on my radar is Nurture Soap Supply. I’m just now digging into the vast array of micas and fragrance oils. Learning about a company takes time: time to order, utilize the product and see how I experience it in my world. My latest fragrance oil love is Comfort and Joy. I can’t get enough of this surprising scent. I love apples, apple anything! Most apple fragrance oils I’ve tried have fallen short, but this… Behaved perfectly and held the scent. No discoloration either. When I want to continue to smell a fragrance… That is the true sign for me. This scent causes me delight.
Growing with a company requires observation: how do they treat their own mistakes? Do they care if the client is satisfied? Do they want to make a fair trade, money for product?
I don’t disconnect from any one or any company for a mistake, one or many. Mistakes are part of existence. If I trip and fall I don’t stop walking. My limit, when I do disconnect, is when, or if, someone or company refuses to take responsibility, lack of integrity repeatedly. (Yes, I’ve done this with acquaintances. But what is the point? I don’t want to deceive myself, or you.) If I witness lies repeatedly or a false reality – I will not set my version of reality aside for someone else’s – I don’t expect someone else to do that for me.
If something I write or say, or my behaviors help, by all means, adopt them and incorporate them into your reality. I do not see this as a requirement of relationship or friendship. I do see there needs to be a baseline of honor… SOMEWHERE. If we cannot agree to this, there is no hope for business, humans or anything. Humans have been playing this “lying” game, sideways speak, for far too long.
What if we just got present to what IS verses the words that came out of some people’s face holes? How is it so many think they have something to say they are buried in their phones? I’d rather someone say, “I’ve been horrible”, then try to lie to me.
Truth can be a matter of interpretation, some say… I use facts to support my understanding of this world. I strive to take all things, look for facts, use my own interpretation, and make a conclusion I can live with.
I get the feeling from Nurture Soap / Carrie that she cares about the soap community.
Fear never creates honor, but the desire to do well, pride in one’s work and having a personal honor code. These two heads of Soap State have a personal honor codes.
Carrie, this Mica Maven, from Nurture Soap investigates her micas, glitter and fragrance oils like nobody’s business, she’s helpful and knowledgable on aspects of micas and glitters and now offering bio, vegan and cruelty free glitters. Carrie even has a Facebook group where we can dice it up about our products, experiences and post results. I love that she interacts with her customers.
I have had communication with this power-house woman over the years. Carrie has treated me with honor, kindness and integrity. My heart is always full when I see an email from her. I will always support those who are kind to me. It doesn’t hurt me at all, and feels good on both sides.
The other part, why I write about companies I like, is to share with you those products I love, and some times, those that don’t go so well, but I steer clear of the non-sense. I’d rather talk about those things that bring me joy, delight me or I’ve found useful. Because if you were in my soapery, I’d tell you, the good and the bad, the soap magic.
Some companies that I have written about in the past, have sold their businesses. I have seen them go from stellar customer support, reasonable shipping times to showing me time and time again, they no longer care about their customers. If I no longer mention these people / companies, it is because I have witness the decline.
Maintaining the quality in all we do is not for the faint hearted. It is work.

Not even kidding, the fragrance was so strong after I made it had I not had a room to store it in, away from the rest of the house, I might have. I have thrown other soaps out because of the fragrance oil. A Fruit soap pie, Hansel and Gretel Pie, for instance. The entire thing in the trash. Also, an Apple pie soap, although both took a ton of time, I couldn’t tolerate the scent. Out of the bottle it was fine, but as they cured, they were horrible… to me.
How can I offer a soap that I refuse to allow in my home? I can’t truly believe in it.
And, let’s say I do make it available and others love it, I get requests to make more of a scent that is offensive to my olfactory… I will have created the rock and the hard place. I, no one else, will have created that experience.
So, when I un-molded this Arctic Fox I was gravely disappointed. The scent, acceptable out of the bottle, was over powering as it cured. I stuck it in the spare room and let it do what it would do. Now, a month later, and the scent has calmed down I’m fully in love with it. Who knew?
Lesson learned. Now, after all the soaps I’ve offered to the soap gremlins at their altar (the garbage bin) I will be a bit more patient with delicate and moody fragrance oils. After all, I can be similar in nature.
Now you know, any scents or Sorcery Soap fragrance blends I make I love. Truly love them, and use some or all of the fragrances in my own home. When I can create a moment, inspired by a scent, in your private sanctuary (the shower or bath) that can transform, even for a moment, I feel as if I’m doing my job. More then that, I’m living my deep purpose.

]]>I’ve been watching videos made with my free soap dough recipe. These videos have at least one step missing, if not more. Each step is very important.
I have made soap dough many different ways and condensed all my experience into the easiest most sure-fire way of making smooth soap dough recipes, books and video tutorials.
Many soap makers are jumping on board with the soap dough phenomena. I strive to master the craft of soap dough. This is a life-time endeavor. To begin to master something, anything, it has been said it takes a minimum 10,000 hours of apprenticeship. Just doing one’s time, having the hours under one’s belt, does not automatically make one a master. I practice my soap-craft daily and have since I began. I share this to let you know where I stand, how dedicated I am to understanding this soap-craft and to sharing my experiences.
Trace is not as important as some think. Trace is defined as leaving “traces” of soap lines, or evidence of soap, that drips off of the mixing tool (spoon or stick blender) on the top of the soap batter. Emulsion IS important. Trace is a sign of emulsion. “An emulsion is a mixture of two or more liquids that are normally immiscible (un-mixable or un-blendable). The word “emulsion” comes from the Latin word for “to milk”, as milk is an emulsion of fat and water, along with other components.”
Here is where the rubber meets the road – examples of Sorcery Soap embellishments. If you like what I create, and see the potential of soap dough please follow the directions and you, too, will have smooth, pliable SAFE soap dough.
Knowing the difference between “saponification” and “curing” is important. Full saponification can take 3 days, and evidence of using an orange or yellow mica. The color will not fully change from the ugly orange it originally is to the intended color for 3 days. The question is, why?
Curing is water evaporation. That’s it. Full stop. Soap dough does NOT cure until used and exposed to air, continuously. Air exposure causes water to evaporate. Soap dough does not cure in its pliable state, it is the opposite of traditional cold process soaps in this respect. Soap dough stays pliable because the crystalline structure of cold process soap is kept from locking by maintaining the water. Each time soap dough is molded, mashed, the structure is broken. Until the very last time, when the embellishment/figure is created and left to CURE with continuous air exposure. This is why soap dough is kept sealed or in an air tight container, to inhibit or retard water evaporation.
I hope this helps you on your soap dough making process.
Much of this information is discussed in greater detail in the Sorcery Soap Books, all but just the Soap Dough Recipes, which are ONLY the recipes, offered at $1 each. The soap dough recipes are offered as a favor, for those experienced soap makers.

They say witches dance in gardens.
This makes me laugh every time I read this divisive propaganda. We dance any where we want, but in gardens? Please. Well, not any more. It’s not as if we need to be secretive about our identities. That was in the old days before the government realized they were wasting a commodity. It’s all about money. Most Witches I know don’t care; the recognition is affirming, but not useful. I rather liked not being recognized. It was so much more fun!
The heady herb smell is pouring into the rest of the room and wrapping its arms around me, which is a great sign its working. This is my favorite part. You know that part when the whole house if filled with the sparkly feeling of magic riding on the smell of dandelion, mint, basil and just a touch of lizard? This is the part where it begins to take shape. I can feel tingling all over my skin, sort of like sitting in a tub of soda water. Not that I’ve done that, but I did make a tub of Jell-o for my ex-boyfriend once. Never mind, not the point…
I have been asked to make a Soup of Influence for the banquet tonight. The mayor wants this for his meeting with some county officials. They should have included the description of the soup course in the RSVP. I’d want to know, wouldn’t you? There aren’t any regulations on this appetizer yet. After all, it’s not as if we are serving arsenic any longer.
What are your views on using food spells without the guest’s knowledge? I know in the old days it just made for an interesting evening. Remember that party when you served Kindness Caviar? Who would have thought it would lead to a night like that? Truly shocking! To see people dancing (and doing other things) that would not say hello in passing. That reminds me… Do you remember how to make Consommé au Congeniality? If you have the recipe, could you email it? Not your private recipe, just the one you shared a few years ago that smooths the edges.
I now have that recipe for Sorcery Soap perfected. You know me with my spells, I strive to employ Occam’s razor as often as possible, except when it comes to my secret soap recipe… And, no, you cannot have it. It’s all yours when I walk through the veil, my Enchanted Soap Recipes, my crystal ball, and even my Recipe Book of Light and Shadow, but don’t get any clever ideas before that time or I’ll send my ravens after you!
Truly interesting that we’ve been practicing this form of sorcery for hundreds of years, infusing our soaps and our soups, but only recently has the public at large allowed us to tell our truth. How do we educate that sorcery is contingent on the user? Much like someone using a torch or a flashlight. The creator of the flashlight cannot guarantee what the user will see. Oh, that is just such a big thought, let’s leave that for another time, dear sister.
I should have started this soup sooner, I’ll never make it to the sound studio in time. They are so tolerant, but I hate being late to anything. You know how I am.
Have I told you about the podcast? It’s been so long since we talked… Anyway I’m a celebrity, of sorts, around here. Witches have been asked to preform this public service, well not that it’s politically correct to call us Witches any longer, although a witch is a witch. All registered Gifted have been asked to give PPA’s or “Psychic Public Announcements”. Are you doing that in your area? To think, just fifty years ago a few gifted women were thrown in jail for giving Tarot readings within the San Diego city limits. Ha! Now we’re called Specially Sighted, Gifted and Seer’s by the ERA. I don’t mind Seer at all, but I always prefer what the ancestors were called, witches.
I really goofed last month, Lizzie. You won’t believe it! Some crazed man burst into the sound studio, while we were recording, shouting “I’m gonna kill that Witch! WHERE IS SHE?” all the while waving a shotgun. I had no idea what the consequences would be when I announced a vague description of a possible pregnancy. I figured more than one woman would have a birth mark on her left hip, but well… I was wrong. Or actually I was right, but let’s not split hairs. This guy thought I was talking about his wife, unfortunately he had a vasectomy years ago and she was pregnant. How is that my fault? Obviously, it all turned out fine, I’m still here in this dimension, in physical form so no foul, no harm.
I did have a dream about a car accident last week on highway 280 in front of the car dealership, and turned to be a great public service. I announced it on the podcast. I couldn’t quiet make out those involved, but after I announced the caution warning there weren’t any accidents all day on that stretch of highway. So, vague impression still help.
The soup’s finished! I have to run. I’ll write again soon, but you already knew that!
All my love,
Bee

]]>I master-batch my soap dough. I use a dedicated crock pot to melt hard oils and butters; 76 degree fahrenheit coconut oil, Shea butter and cocoa butter are semi-hard before melting. In order to combine them with liquid oils this requires changing their temporary nature.
I use a dedicated crock pot for a simple reason – I was taught while studying meditation we sit in the same position, wear the same meditation shawl and sit on the same mediation pillow all made of simple cloth. I asked my teachers repeatedly, “why?” The over-riding answer was, because it helps to achieve a deeper level of meditation. I cannot speak to those slightly superstitious and less scientific answers like “your energy is infused into the objects,” all of which I listened to with a large dose of skepticism. How are these people, who dedicate their lives to a peaceful existence, not grounded in fact?
I have come to understand we operate on many levels – conscious, unconscious, sub-conscious and automatic, just to name a few. We do things based on prompts and routine like brushing one’s teeth. After so many years of doing a task, we have reflex behaviors like Pavlov’s dog, and no longer think of the task.
We can also create muscle memory. Those who participate in sports understand this type of memory that is built into the very fibers, tendons, connective tissue of the muscles change, alter and adapt to the skill; this muscle memory can grow talent; this is an application of an idea to the very tissues of a human being. Sit with that concept for a moment.
Do you see how magnificent and alchemical this process is, at its core? This could be renamed, simply, magic.
To have a dedicated crock pot is not to propose that the structure of the crock pot changes, but my response to the object changes. It is now a prompt of creation. A doorway into unknown worlds. A tool I use to open up ideas inside myself, or open myself up to the ideas in another dimension and pull them into our reality, our dimension.
My crock pot is now part of my ritual; part of my process, to opening that door only I can see. It is no longer the object I create over-cooked chicken, or a lazy dinner, but incites action in my mind/body that help me see the door to the room filled with ideas.
To have a truly smooth soap, be it bar or soap dough, the melted oils and butters need to be in a certain state; to marry to the liquid oils, to unify them into a temporary nature. If not joined in this ideal state the results will not be smooth, on so many levels. The same can be said for relationships, eating, health… all things.
I observe my nature must be patient, as calm as morning lake, undisturbed with the process if I wish to be invited through the doorway into the room of creativity where my nature will changed, temporarily.

There are times while doing anything that doubt creeps in – business might be slow, negative comments come your way or simply, you ask yourself, “is this what I should be doing?”
This doubt has a way into your home. Did you know? It's true, you may have unwittingly invited this one into your home and worse, into your soap endeavors.
There is a knock on your door and you, being the curious and welcoming-being that you are, answer.
This creature pushes past you, walks right in and makes itself comfortable on your sofa, then asks if there is coffee brewing. This guest asks in that manipulative way some beings have of slithering into another’s graciousness, knowing just by asking that what they ask for will be produced.
Not wanting to appear rude, you make a pot of coffee.
While you are making coffee for your new guest he asks, “what are you doing today?”
You answer from the the kitchen. “Preparing to make soap this afternoon,” matter-of-fact yet still friendly.
While the coffee brews you sit with your guest and see a sneer creep across his face.
You shrug his odd grin off as just his way, and ask. “What is your name, my mysterious guest?”
“Oh, I’m here to see if you are ready, my dear.” He answers, picking up a bauble from your coffee table, examining it like an antique expert.
“Ready for what?”
“Ready to welcome his highness.” He replies as he sets your glass heirloom back on the table and settles his bottom deeper into your sofa.
Your heart catches, and now you are truly curious, which is the response your guest wants. He can feel your curiosity and that, my dear reader, is what he was after all along.
That is the moment it dawns on you who this creature truly is, as if a veil is lifted, you see his green face.
A memory of the grasshopper landing on your hand the night before surfaces along with the enticement to eat one more cupcake, as if it wouldn’t matter; the feeling to drive just a bit faster and sneak through the yellow light taking up time from those waiting their turns; the idea to take a spoon to your last soap to make it just a bit better but only to muddy the bright colors.
You realize this is the Ambassador of Soap Chaos and Chaos comes with many faces.
This Chaos comes as Loki, the Wild Crouch, the Trickster. Many cultures, many people have known this Reckless Wrecker who have enticed, enchanted to do just a bit more, ignoring their own internal guidance. Forgetting about the Fates who always have a hand in creations.
We in the soap world know this creature, his highness the Reckless Wrecker as the Soap Gremlin. That mysterious thing that knocks that bucket of oil held securely by your deft and skilled hands to the floor; that being that whispers it won’t matter if your measurements are off just a tick; that being that coaxes you to take a chopstick to the beautiful natural soap tops the Muses have gifted you.
All this time you had no idea you invited this gremlin’s ambassador to chaos into your home, you dear gracious hostess.
Now you do.
The next time you think “just a bit more” while you make soap, hesitate and ask, what or who is guiding me?
(I do not receive recompense for your purchase, I just LOVE this book and want to share.)
]]>]]>
As being my truer self doesn’t always come easily in public and the default behavior for me is to control my world, even in the most subtle ways. I strive to keep my environment orderly. That activity causes my mate a disruption in his field of energy. He has a different idea of calm and peace. His comes much more naturally. I have to work at mine.
My initial programing from my paternal units was not a calm state of being. I don’t blame them any more, they were aliens. Well, one was. They didn’t choose me any more than I chose them, at least on the most obvious levels.
I’m working on this initial programming in the same way water works on things… Unceasingly, determinably, consistently. Water can change things dramatically, but also most subtly, without sharp edges and yet flowing, smooth, rough, intense, still, calm, but most importantly, powerfully.
I don’t want dramatic change now – that smacks too much of the first phase of life. I’d like to be quietly powerful. At least privately – powerful over my fears, because my control springs from fear, not from peace.
How does this all relate to soap making?
Finding my quiet place, inside me, deeper than the surface of “Hi, how are you?” to myself but not as deep as a dream. In the theta place of mediation, before my need to organize and “straighten” things in my home, the place where faeries manifest in my imagination and soap gremlins are mischievous but not cruel, the place where ideas manifest into a slightly chaotic workspace and enchantments appear in the shape of soaps… To exist in this place is where my soap-magic springs forth and the feeling of this place is water.
My goal for today is to be like water.
1. Today I will commit myself to detachment. I will allow myself and those around me the freedom to be as they are. I will not rigidly impose my idea of how things should be. I will not force solutions on problems, thereby creating new problems. I will participate in everything with detached involvement.
2. Today I will factor in uncertainty as an essential ingredient of my experience. In my willingness to accept uncertainty, solutions will spontaneously emerge out of the problem, out of the confusion, disorder, and chaos. The more uncertain things seem to be, the more secure I will feel, because uncertainty is my path to freedom. Through the wisdom of uncertainty, I will find my security.
3. I will step into the field of all possibilities and anticipate the excitement that can occur when I remain open to an infinity of choices. When I step into the field of all possibilities, I will experience all the fun, adventure, magic, and mystery of life.

]]>The post What If Humans ARE Natural? appeared first on Sorcery Soap™.
]]>What does is say for our self worth, to agree with the idea that natural is superior to man-made? This is a tag line, propaganda, an under current, a reductive idea that has been promoted for too many years. I wonder what the motive is… To say man made is less than, not nature, unnatural, and all we touch is inferior. Are humans not natural to anywhere or just our planet?
I find it a mistake to think only plants have intelligence, and that intelligence of form (remember, we do not instruct a plant, it has it’s own agenda) is lost once we reconstruct that form into another form. Aren’t we, after all, reconstructed form from an egg and a spermatozoa into our shapes? Don’t our bodies replace all cells every seven years? Do only our cells have some form of intelligence? What of other beings, other substances… ?
It has been my mistake to think humans are not natural and all things that are “natural” are superior to human influence or humans at all.
Granted many people who instruct the form-based world are not honorable alchemist. That doesn’t diminish the idea that if something is heated, treated or altered by humans mean that the intelligence is gone entirely. What if, instead of “create your reality,” the truer truth is work with your creations and honor the intelligence in all things, regardless if one understands fully?
What if the ancients understood far better than we do by honoring the earth in celebration, by blessing objects of importance, making offerings to an idea, asking the world and all that is for aid in survival?
What if natural is not superior, and man-made is not inferior?
Would you have more self-respect and self-honor?
Would you see yourself as part of the natural world? How would your interactions change?
What if you stop believing the company line, which is fact-less and groundless once examined; what if you forget the idea that man-made is inferior and that anything man touches is ruined and inferior to what nature produces.
How does entertaining the idea that you are part of nature change how you see yourself?
