One of my favorite parts of visiting my Gram as a child was digging through the metal button box. It was a journey through my Gram's life - buttons of many colors and materials: silver metal buttons with shiny diamond-like embellishment, tiny little pearl buttons I imagined on fine gloves, colors of azure, crimson, gold... Always there was one (or six) I wanted to keep, but if I did there would be fewer the next time.
After digging for my favorites, comparing with my cousin her choices, we'd scoop them up, replace the finds in the box, force the lid back on and put it away. Because, if we did not do all these tasks Gram wouldn't allow us our wonderful treat of combing through her button collection.
This memory was the inspiration for this soap - to create the joy and enthusiasm for that journey into a world of buttons through my Grams past.
